A pension letter that makes no sense. A form with a deadline and no one to ask. We sit down and go through it together.
A first step they can takeWe help people who don't know where to turn.
PIKA is a first point of contact in Slovenia. When life gets complicated — an official letter no one can decode, a system built to confuse, a decision too big to face alone — we listen, explain, and help take the next step.
It usually starts
the same way.
A letter you can't decode. An office that sends you to another office. A right you might have, if only someone would explain it. The system isn't cruel — it's just built for people who already know how it works. Most of us don't, not at the moment we need to.
So we made one
place to start.
You come with a question — any question — and we stay with it until it makes sense. No wrong door, no being passed along. Four simple things, in order:
We listen
First we hear the whole situation — calmly, without rushing or judging. Often it's the first time someone has.
We explain
Then we put it in plain words: what it means, what actually matters, and what can safely wait.
We guide
Together we find the next step — a real one you can take this week, not a list of everything at once.
We connect
And when someone else is the right help, we walk you to the correct door instead of away from ours.
Help shouldn't depend on
knowing the right person.
PIKA is for everyone — not a single age, not a single problem. What people share is the moment: standing in front of a situation they don't know how to handle.
A country whose rules you're still learning. We explain how things work here — slowly, clearly, in plain language.
A first step they can takeA first job, a first contract, a first apartment. We help read the fine print before anything is signed.
A first step they can takeA decision that affects everyone, and no one knows where to begin. We help lay out the options calmly.
A first step they can takeAn association, a project, an application — and the question of where to even start. We help find the path.
A first step they can takeDocuments, institutions and systems that feel built to exclude. We stand beside you and translate.
A first step they can takeNo one is turned away for asking the wrong question. The first conversation is always free — because the hardest part is knowing where to begin.
Need help yourself? Just tell us in a sentence — the way you'd actually say it.
Opens your email with a short draft — change or add anything before you send. English or Slovenian.
A first step changes
the whole path.
No one remembers the form they finally understood. They remember the moment they stopped feeling alone with it — and that small moment changes everything that comes after.
“My husband took care of everything. When he died, I didn't even know which bank was ours.”
She didn't need a lawyer. She needed someone who would take her by the hand.
New, experienced,
and honest about it.
PIKA was founded in 2026 — but the people behind it have spent decades inside the very systems people get lost in: schools, public institutions and international projects. We know how they work from the inside, which is how we carry a question all the way to a real answer — not one more doorway and good luck. The rest we keep simple and clear:
A registered non-profit institute. We charge costs only — never profit — and work in the public interest.
The first conversation is always free. No one is turned away for not being able to pay.
We reply within 24 hours. A question that finally got asked shouldn't have to wait.
We don't publish bank details online — for everyone's safety. Write to us and we share them directly, with a formal agreement.
GDPR-compliant. What you share with us stays with us.

Your support becomes
a next step for someone.
We're small and new, so we won't dress our work up in numbers we haven't earned. What we can promise is direct: support reaches a person, not an overhead line. Some of our services carry a small, costs-only fee — your support is what keeps the first conversation free and reaches people who can't pay at all.
Keep the first conversation free
Most people reach us with the same sentence: “I didn't know who else to ask.” Funding means that question always has an answer — no fee at the door, no one priced out.
Your gift covers one guidance session for someone who has run out of places to turn.
Cover the quiet costs behind the help
The unglamorous part — a room, a phone, the hours between conversations. Steady support is what lets us still be here next month when someone finally works up the courage to ask.
Regular giving keeps the door open, week after week.
Give an hour of what you know
Lawyers, social workers, translators, mentors. An hour of your knowledge extends what we can do for the next person who walks in unsure — no money required.
One hour of your time can become a turning point in someone's week.
A few honest answers
before you decide.
The things partners and donors ask us most. If yours isn't here, just write to us.
The end of “I don't know
where to turn.”.
That's the whole point of PIKA — the place where the confusion stops and the next step begins. We guide people to their next step. Here's yours — pick the way that fits, and we take it from there.
And the name? In Slovenian, a pika is the small dot that closes a sentence — and clears the way for the next one to begin. No one's story really ends here; it just takes its next step.
